A 3-Day Tulsa Wedding: John & Sehej's Sangeet, Sikh Ceremony, and Christian Wedding
Before we'd even officially opened up wedding photography as a service, John's dad found us. He reached out more than once, gently but persistently making the case for why we needed to be the ones to photograph his son's wedding. That kind of trust, before we'd even said yes, is the kind of thing you don't forget. Looking back now, we're so glad we said yes — because this wasn't just a wedding. It was three.
John and Sehej are ambitious, sweet, and remarkably organized — which, when you're planning a three-day celebration while living in different states, is basically a requirement. Every detail across every day felt intentional, and it showed in how smoothly the whole weekend came together.
Friday: The Sangeet at Glenpool Conference Center
The weekend opened with the Sangeet, held at the Glenpool Conference Center, and it set the tone for everything that followed. The room was full of color — every outfit felt like its own celebration — and the dancing was nonstop. Families took turns on the floor, each performance telling a piece of John and Sehej's story, how they met, how their families came together. My videographer, Matt, was right there capturing it in motion, and getting to watch the night unfold through both a still and moving lens made it even more special.
Saturday: The Sikh Ceremony
Saturday brought the Sikh ceremony, and I'll admit — we went in a little nervous. Neither of us had photographed one before, and we didn't want to miss a single meaningful moment out of not knowing what was coming. We didn't need to worry. Everyone around us was so generous with their guidance, walking us through each tradition as it happened so we could be fully present for the ceremony instead of guessing. It was a beautiful reminder of why we love this work — every wedding teaches us something new.
Sunday: The Christian Ceremony at The Springs Venue
The weekend closed on Sunday with a Christian ceremony at The Springs, one of our favorite venues to shoot in Tulsa for its soft, romantic light. This was the day of John and Sehej's first look, and it's still one of my favorite moments from the entire weekend. There was nothing performed about it — just two people who had already been through so much together over three days, finally taking a breath and looking at each other. Real, heartfelt, and exactly what a first look should feel like.
